Matt the Author
Writing and storytelling have always been Matt Deutschman’s calling, but it was his kids, now ages five and three, who inspired him to write books for children. After earning a BS in Journalism from Northwestern University, he founded a business in the promotional marketing industry telling his clients’ stories through marketing campaigns. Reading books to his kids continues to be one of Matt’s favorite activities, and his fascination with captivating stories paired with irresistible illustrations led him to envision creating stories of his own to forge a deeper bond with his children.
What began as simple bedtime stories to put their imaginative minds at ease evolved into rhyming tales with colorful characters.
His biggest supporter and most trusted critic is his wife, Deanna, who urged him to put pen to paper. Matt’s first book, “When You Hear The Thunder Rumble,” released in November 2020, has become their family’s go-to way to cuddle and calm their kids during a thunderstorm. From there, the floodgate of story ideas has opened and Matt is enjoying this exciting endeavor.
